Question

hello, everyone,
i have the opportunity to pick up a used alesis 3630 for $70, & i would appreciate any input. i wondered if it would be a worthy piece of equipment to put between my vs880 and a DAT or cdr during mixdown. is it worth the $70??(assuming it is in perfect working order) and, is it alright to use it in the forementioned way? i use an art tubepac for my compression going into the 880, so my only need would be during mixdown. thanks a lot in advance, i have to make a decision this friday.

danke, cricketking

If you can go for 200 bucks, check out the RNC (really nice compressor) from FMR Audio.
I've seen the pro's calling it a really good value, and these are guys who are having discussions of Cranesong vs Langevin preamps.

how can you go wrong for half price? no it's not the best comp to use for a final mix but it's nice to have as an extra. let's say if you've got a wayward drum or guitar line that gets just a little too hot. something you may not want to use your good comp on.

happy motoring
