hello, everyone,
i have the opportunity to pick up a used alesis 3630 for $70, & i would appreciate any input. i wondered if it would be a worthy piece of equipment to put between my vs880 and a DAT or cdr during mixdown. is it worth the $70??(assuming it is in perfect working order) and, is it alright to use it in the forementioned way? i use an art tubepac for my compression going into the 880, so my only need would be during mixdown. thanks a lot in advance, i have to make a decision this friday. danke, cricketking |

If you can go for 200 bucks, check out the RNC (really nice compressor) from FMR Audio.
I've seen the pro's calling it a really good value, and these are guys who are having discussions of Cranesong vs Langevin preamps. |

how can you go wrong for half price? no it's not the best comp to use for a final mix but it's nice to have as an extra. let's say if you've got a wayward drum or guitar line that gets just a little too hot. something you may not want to use your good comp on.
