Cheap Mics....

Ok.. I know u get what u pay for... and I thought cheap mics were at the 50-200 range.. but I was searching music123.com and sound a Behringer C-1 mic.. for 29.99

http://www.music123.com/Behringer-C1...-i119463.music

anyone got one of these and how does it compare to the other cheapo mics? lol

Also.. I have an MCA SP1 that I can't seem to get to work anymore.. any ideas on maybe how to repair it?

Also.. If I were going to buy a cheap mic just to record demos for a band... what would u suggest that I could get from musiciansfriend or music123 (using my card)

I was looking at the mxl 990 as well as a samson C01

anyone have the musicians friend platinum card and have had trouble ordering with it. I had ordered the mxl 990 along with some other stuff.. but i keep getting emails saying my card was declined.. called customer serv for MF and the bank and thought it was fixed.. but yet my items have still not been shipped and I am still getting those emails. Anyone else have a similar exp.

thanks

That Behringer C1 looks like a smokin' deal on an entry level LDC. However, Behringer's site says it won't be available until 3rd quarter 2004. Are you sure it's available? Try to buy it and see if they tell you it's on backorder.
It looks like a Samson CO1 - I don't know why Behringer would rip off such a cheap mic.

for 30bucks you can't lose out but obviously if you spend a little more you open up more options ... it's been a quiet couple of weeks for Studio Projects B1 recommendations (and that may just be because we're all tired of arguements) but it's a good one to look at nonetheless.

I would probably buy two of those just to have around on stands in case of emergency or just to look like I ahve more mics than I do, ha!
At any rate, cover up the logo with a shockmount or something and you can put em all over the place as talkback mics and maybe a vocal booth and/or singing guitarist scratch-booth mic. You know, for scratch tracks during dru mtracking and stuff. You gotta keep the singer away from the drums, and you probably want your good mics on the drums somewhere. At least I do.
I'll end up with a pair for the hell of it as long as they are at least bearable as talkbacks and stuff.

I have 2 of the cheap MCA SP1's. I use them in my theater work as backstage mics for singing. They sound fair and are cheap. This way if anything happens to them....who cares.
I have used them a few times for recording. Usually when we want a "low fi" sound.

Music123 says they expect the item to be in their warehouse by April 1st.
