Cubase SX. I'm using a midiman keystation49 for my controller, a darla 24 card and an SBlive card. I can hear the MS wavetable sounds when playing the controller, but when I try to use a vst plugin synth, my controller doesn't work with it, I only hear the generic piano sound that I know is coming from the wavetable synth (which I believe is on the SBlive card). I have the darla set up for the midi output, and I can get sounds from the plugin by playing the synth with my mouse, but I want to use the controller to control the plugin sounds. I'm sure I have something routed wrong, but I can't figure it out. I simply want to use my keystation49 to control the vst synths and other vst plugins.

do you have the MIDI in set to your controller and the MIDI out set to the VST instrument in the track editor?

on to the next prob
Okay, that solved my midi issue. But when I play a note on the keystation, their is about a one second delay between the time I hit it and the moment I hear it, with my guitar and the keystation. The keystation is run through a vst plugin synth, and the guitar through amplitube. I know this is latency, and I'm sure the vst's increase it because of more processing. But is there a way around this without monitoring directly so that I can take advantage of hearing effects as I'm playing?
Also, how do I get the direct monitoring of my guitar (outside of cubase I suspect) muted so that I'm hearing the output of cubase only? Thanks again, willstewart@sc.rr.com |

Try adjusting the audio buffers and decreasing their size to eliminate the latency. You need to find a good balance between latency and audio so that you dont start getting pops and cracks. If you dont use to many audio tracks this shouldn't be a problem.
Im not sure how you system works but anything running through the SB live will probably have latency as the card is grade a cack. (sorry but it is) I dont understand you guitar question. Do you have a mixing desk or something. I cant work out how you can possibly hear the guitar without it running through cubase anyway. Keith |
