Compressor at mixdown
Ignoring, for the moment, the wisdom of applying compression at mixdown, I have a question:
If I am sending a signal out of a Fostex VF80 into a Behringer AutoCom Pro 1400, how do I input that signal if the compressor only has 1/4 input plugs--I know adapters are made to convert rca plugs to 1/4 inch but how do I deal with the fact that the compressor seems to have dual channel outputs? Meaning, how do I squeeze two outputs into a single digital cable so that I can input a digital signal into a stand alone CD burner? Whew, that was a mouthful and I hope the question seems clear. I also hope this was the right forum to ask in. Right now I am coming out of the Fostex's analogue outputs and would like to switch to digital. |

I don't think you can do what you're asking. Have you tried using the Fostex's Mastering Mode (using tracks 7 & 8) with EQ, compressor and effects? If you want to use the Behringer AutoCom Pro 1400 you're going to have to use it while recording tracks using a mixer because it doesn't look like the Fostex has any channel inputs for external effects.
