shock mounts??

What is the purpose of shock mounts??
Also when mics come with 'wind screens'...what is that??

Shock mounts isolate the mic body from shock.

Wind screens protect the diaphragm from wind.

Pops & thumps.

If you have a singer who doesn't grab the mic stand while singing, you dont need a shockmount and if you have panty hose and a shirt hanger you dont need a pop filter
