Behringer FCB1010 to Voodu Valuve, how to get it to work?!
I'm a new owner of a Rocktron Voodu Valve and a Behringer FCB1010 midi foot controller. I have it all hooked up, but can't figure out for the life of me how to get the foot controller to work like I want!
The controller is a nice, big one, 10 numbered pedals, plus an "up" and "down" as well as 2 expression pedals. First, I've "reset the midi channel setting in the global setup" as directed in the manual. I'm assuming what this does it set everything back to a "factory reset", or undoes what the previous owner had it set up/programmed. I've reset this numerous times. Now, what I want to initially do is just run up and down my Voodu Valve presets and have one expression pedal be a volume pedal, the other a wah pedal. The problem I'm running into is total inconsistencies. I can run through, let's say bank 3, which will start at preset 30 and then when I go through the 10 numbered pedals, it changes the presets accordingly. So if I hit #7, the patch changes to 37, #3 the path changes to 33. Sounds logical, right? Then I go up to another bank, let's just say it's bank 5, so it should be patch 50 and should work just like the previous paragraph (#7 pedal would give me preset 57, etc...) It sure don't, though. The # pedals appear to just pull up random presets, they're NOT sequential as you'd expect. Any ideas what's going on? |

Behringer FCB1010 to Voodu Valve
Hi,
I'm going to buy a Rocktron Voodu Valve Preamp and a Behringer FCB1010 Midi Foot controller. I donīt understand the problem that you have very well. Could you program on each bank a different effect from the Voodu Valve or not? It's complicated to use or should I better buy another midi foot controller? Thanks, War |

What you may be running into is called a patch map --- it allows incoming program change numbers to be remapped to call up different presets.
You mention a previous owner, so I assume you bought the Rocktron used. Look in the manual + inside the machine itself for something with the terms 'map', 'remap', 'MIDI map' and there should be an option to reinitialize it. |

These things are made for simplicity of use -- the manufacturers don't expect you to be a rocket scientist or have a degree in compter programming to use their footpedal/rack mount FX combos --- go to a guitar store and have them set it up for you if you're concerned.

I also am trying to get my FCB1010 to communicate with my Voodu Valve. I have tried all kinds of combinations and have factory restored both units, though I'm not sure I restored the FCB properly (1+6 or 1+7 at startup?). When I calibrate teh pedals (1+3 at startup...), the FCB finishes with only 3 clicks and "F1"--it does not recognize the MIDI connection. If anyone has successfully connected a FCB1010 to a Voodu Valve and could help, I would be VERY thankful. Specific questions: Should the FCB be connected into MIDI IN or REMOTE (I've tried both)? Should Voodu be set to receive "OMNI"? The manuals and online research have not helped much.

Connect to MIDI in. FCB1010 should transmit Channel1 by default, set the Rocktron to recieve channel 1 (I never use OMNI). littlebunny, that sounded definitely like a Patch Map problem in the Rocktron. One way to check that theory out is use Direct Select (Enabled in Global Mode), and manually punch in the Program #'s with your pedals directly (Or just check in the Rocktron).
