Is that the same?

Ya I got all these basic and quick start manuals for it, don't know that these are the same as the manual that comes with the board? maybe you could enlighten me?

I am trying to figure out how to get the control buttons on the mixer to work with my sound forge and vegas programs. it think it is some kind of midi set up?

I would like to trigger my system from across the room or from the next room maybe, any help would be good?

thanks for your response anyway Giganova

yeah, these files are the same as the manual that shipped with the unit. There is no other doku on the MIDI implimentation.

Doesn't your software have a "MIDI learn" feature? In Logic, I can just click on "learn", press all the MIDI buttons on the VM3100, and Logic stores them. Dead easy.

I'll Look but I don't think so

I don't think that sonic foundry has that feature but I'll look into it thanks again for the info, Big help!

thought I was looking for a hefty manual of 200 pages or something with all the stuff they stuffed into this mixer, My Br-8 has a bigger manual even than this mixer dose! much easyer to use too!

Midi is still some what baffling to me also, but I am making progress I think with your help!

My computers interface for midi is a sound blaster Audigy (internal) system and I am working towards understanding it better too, so any advice is well taken at this end!

There are a couple presets to work with software.

Logic - SHIFT + F1
Cakewalk - SHIFT + F2
Cubase - SHIFT + F3
Initialize SHIFT + EZrouting

Try some of those and see if they work. Since soundforge isn't a multitrack or midi program they probably don't have any defaults for it.

I'm glad you brought this up. I never even thought to do this, but after reading your question I tried it and, like Giganova said, it's very easy. I can't help with Vegas, but some of the same things may still apply.

Tex is right, no defaults in Sound Forge, but it does have learn. In Sound Forge go to the OPTIONS menu and select MIDI TRIGGERS. This will open up a box showing a list of parameters you can assign.

In the lower left corner, put a check in the box next to ENABLE MIDI INPUT/SYNC TRIGGER. Next, highlight the parameter you want to assign (PLAY for example), then press the button on the VM3100 you want to assign it to (PLAY for example).

You will have to enable MIDI control everytime you open the program though. The keyboard shortcut is CTRL+F7.

That should get you going.
