Get the color and character of classic solid state preamp designs with Seventh Circle Audio preamp kits. Improve your signal chain, save money, and learn something while you're at it! All preamp kits feature:

* High quality double sided circuit boards, made in USA. Single board design eases assembly and minimizes errors.
* Grayhill rotary switches for stepped gain control. 5 dB steps provide precise, repeatable gain settings.
* Bourns conductive plastic pots for gain trim. Up to 6 dB cut allows "in between" gain settings.
* C&K toggle switches for phase and phantom power switching.
* Neutrik XLR connectors.
* Local voltage regulators for improved channel isolation, reliability, and flexibility.

There are currently two power supplies and two preamp modules available, with more on the way. All modules are designed to fit our rugged 2U chassis, the CH01.

Preamps:

N72 - A modern recreation of the BA283 circuit used in the Neve 1272. Two carefully implemented gain stages provide up to 70dB of gain with better bandwidth than many racked "vintage" modules.

J99 - A kit version of the famous Jensen Twin Servo preamp. Dual gain stages yield high gain, wide bandwidth, very low distortion, and extremely low noise.

A12 - Coming soon! A full-featured single op-amp kit modelled on the API 312. Fully compatible with the 2520 discrete op amp. Adjustable on-board voltage regulators for easy swapping of op-amp modules.

Power Supplies:

PS01 - +27V, +48V supply for N72-only systems.
PS02 - +/-27V, +48V supply for mixed systems.

Chassis:

CH01 - Rugged, heavy gauge cold rolled steel chassis provides superior durability and shielding from external magnetic fields. Heavy mu metal power transformer shielding. 3/8" aluminum front panel. Black powder coated chassis and beige panel, drilled and punched for 8 modules and a power supply.

EVERY audio forum I go to has some kind of forum advertisement for Seventh Circle Audio...either they make an amazingly priced DIY kits or they're just advertising. The only person that seems to contradict SCA's hype is a fellow on www.recording.org saying he basically thinks they're overpriced kits...particularly the N72 "neve" model. go to www.recording.org and search by username "dejacky" to find the thread..it's the newest one called "setup" or something like that.. hope this helps FWIW.

Yet I'll bet that "fellow" has never heard the N72. He has often given some slightly negative views of items he has not actually heard.

And even if he has heard them and doesn't like them, what's that to you? You may find out they are exactly what you've been looking for. Everyone has to find his own set of tools and learn to use them.

I find my N72's and J99's indispensible.

I'm eager to try SCA's stuff actually...was just trying to provide some more objectiveness to people who haven't had experience with their gear. I think that thread where we discussed this Screws on www.recording.org was quite informative . Why? because I get to learn what more experienced audio recordists consider "fat, warm" or "good sounding." I hear their samples and it helps me decide how to interpret their opinions on gear. It teaches me details I wouldn't normally learn on my own and it helps me make more informed gear purchases.
that "other fellow's" audio samples in that thread didn't sound as pleasing to my ears as the ones you provided and he kept saying he'd take that JLM 8-channel "op amp" design preamp over any of the SCA stuff..but it just sounded a little too "in ur face, pokey, almost-too tight/bright/harsh" sounding to me. just some food for thought..that's all.

I have yet to see a genuine bad word or comment made about either SCA or JLM's products........both are apparently well worth the money and both apparently deliver excellent sound.

That "fellow" is one of the most, if not the most, self-inflated, arrogant and offensive individual(s) I have come across on any forum.
