Direct Keyboard recording

So I was wondering if this was at all possible:

I want to record directly from my keyboard to my computer without having to mess with MIDI or anything like that. I have a cable plugged from the headphone jack on the keyboard to the mic jack on the computer. When I play on the keyboard, though, the computer doesn't pick up any signal. Is this idea not at all possible or am I doing something wrong?

You need to run the line to the "line in" jack, not the mic jack.

How do I configure my software to read the line in jack? I'm using Soundforge.

goto preferences in soundforge and setup your soundcard uner the "wave" tab.

^^ An easier way.....

Double click your little Speaker at the bottom right of your Windows toolbar.

Go to OPTIONS then PROPERTIES

Select RECORDING and click OK

Select LINE IN

...easy.

I may be wrong but I'm fairly sure you will still have to do the setup within soundforge...

BTW have you had any luck?
