Smile Early B'day present...digital mixer

I got a nice surprise the other day. My buddy made some upgrades to his studio and for my birthday he gave me his old but lovingly maintained Yamaha ProMix 01. He got tired of me dragging my feet on setting up my own deal so this was a push.

As I said, I know it's old but everything works just great and will do me for a while until I get richer and smarter about gear choices. The 01 seems to pop up in just about every studio and live application there is so they must have done something right. Any opinions on this board? I am still fairly analogue and don't know too much on the digital gear...yet. I'd like to hear any experiences you folks have had using this mixer, good and bad.

My experience with the 01 is rather limited, but I certainly dont' remember anything "bad" about it...

Congrats to you on your new board, and here's to good friends. I can't think of too many buddies that would just pass off a digital mixer as a birthday present.
