Noise on 428 - Home Recording

Noise on 428

When I connect the 428 to an amp, I have a lot of noise in the speakers. I have moved the amp to different power circuits but it continues. It sounds like a grounding problem and I'm wondering if anyone has tried connecting a ground wire between the amp and the 428 and if it might blow something or even help?
