Marshall MG?

Hello, I am looking for like a 10-15 watt amp. I have a good live set-up, but just for when I don't feel like lugging it all I want a cheap amp. I was looking at either the Roland Cube 15, Marshall MG-15, or Kustom Tube 12. Any opinions? Does the small MG sound the same as the bign's?

I was in the same boat, and eventually settled on a Vox Cambridge 30. You would probably have to get one used because Korg discontinued them about two years ago, but they are around $200.00 if you find a reasonable seller. Heck, that's what I paid for a new one. They aren't the loudest thing, but if you push them they might be able to keep up with a drummer. I haven't tried the twin; it's also a 30-watter but has two tens.

Another amp that I tried and liked (and, if it hadn't have been for the deal I got on a new Cambridge, would have bought) was the Hughes and Kettner Edition Blue 30. It's only a 1-10 combo, like the Cambridge, but has a closed-back cab, a nice CD input, pretty good tone, nice gain, and a cool light up knob panel. I think that they are about $210.00 new. Check one out...I think you might be impressed.

Oh, well. That's my two cents.

Thumbs up Marshal AVT 20

Check out the AVT20 from Marshall. Has tubes and sounds fantastic, retail is around $300.00. It is small but has big amp sound...

Check out the Roland Cube 30 at $230 new in a box - it's a much better-sounding and more versatile amp than those you've mentioned. The small size, dependability, great-sounding amp modeling, digital effects and high volume potential (the sucker is LOUD), for the money, can't be touched IMHO. I bought one last spring and haven't looked back.

Thumbs up

I second the Roland Cube 30. This thing is LOUD and has some pretty decent tone. For the money it's hard to beat IMHO.

The AVT amps are not really tube amps; just Marshall BS.

Thumbs up I hear that

Fake tubes are better than no tubes. The MG amps sound harsh and sterile...

Peavey Classic 30
Real tubes: 12AX7 preamp
EL 84 power amp
1X12 speaker config.

2 Channel operation

street price under $400 new

Did I mention real tubes for less than $400 NEW?

I suspect that you can get one used for around $2-250.

The AVT line is the newer version of the Valvestate models from a few years ago. They have a tube preamp section but a solid-state power section.
