pickup switch?

If any of you have experience with higher end Epiphone Les Paul Customs, I recently picked one up as part of a guitar trade. Gold covers, typical of humbuckers. Now I also have a cheap Epiphone SG knockoff in which I have mounted the reissue classic 57 humbuckers from an SG Supreme, which I tricked out with coil taps. Now both of these axes have wonderful necks and near perfect intonation, but the Les Paul is a real guitar, and the Epi SG is the expendable airline travel axe.
I have 2 questions (Light, are you out there?).
1.- Are those 57's enough better to justify switching the pickups?
2.- If I do, will the gold pickup covers be able to stay on the Les Paul, and the silver ones on the SG, or would I have to switch the pickup covers also?. Any experience you may have, thanks for sharing.-Richie

The covers can be changed, but should be done by a professional. You will also need to change the pole piece screws. The only concern I have is that the pole piece screws on the epi pickups MIGHT be metric. If that is the case, you will need to order replacement pole piece screws.

As to the quality of the pickups, you will have to decide for yourself. I would guess it will be worth it, but that is really a matter of opinion.
