Need a brick Keyboard

Hey guys,
I've been playing piano out live for a couple years and have had the worst problems with pianos tearing up on me, specifically the keys or keybeds. I play boogie woogie, 50's piano rock/swing, etc....so I'm hitting the keys pretty hard. I've gone through a Roland xv88 and right now I have a motif8. I don't use 2/3rds the instruments/functions of these keyboards...mostly just piano and organ, but I’ve already shipped back the Motif to have the keys fixed three times. I really need a digital stage piano that can take a pounding. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated?\

Very few of them will really take much of a beating. I used to tech for a strong handed classical player who swore by the older Korgs. You're probably going to be stuck getting warranty repairs for whatever you choose.

Damn. I figured as much. I'm wondering though if it would be better for me to buy a 300 dollar controller and just go midi. ??

It might make it easier to replace them but it won't solve the problem. It's a mechanical failure.

I'm using an SP76 Stage Piano as a controler and it works very welll..

I beleive the keyboard bed is actually built with "stops" over the keys where they strike the contacts for sounding off...

So hard striking this keyboard may be better than others..

Check them out... It's a "semi weighted" board though... So you'll need to find one to test the "feel"...

I apologize... I was "suggesting" the SP88 from Kurzweil... If anything - It will be FAR less expensive than replacing a Motiff every few Weeks!!

The only question I have is why did you buy a motif (a keyboard workstation meant for arranging) instead of a digital piano like an S08?

You said yourself that you don't use most of the sounds in the motif.

If the S08 or a similar Digital piano could work, you could save yourself a grand or so.

I don't know if the action will work for you (though it is arguably one of the best ever made), but for durability, I doubt that anything ever made is tougher than Yamha's KX88. I've had mine for 17+ years and never had to do anything to it (well, I think the battery needed replacing once). It's heavy, but nearly indestructible.

Sadly, they stopped production a few years ago (after something like 15 years), but you still occasionally see them on E-bay. It seems that those who have them don't part with them often.

It was strictly a controller so you would still need a sound module.

mmmm... I LOVE that controller...
I've been wanting to find one forever...
But they've been out of productions for quite a while...

Never have come up with anything much better than the KX88...
