good spot to buy quality used gear?

ok, so who has any ideas on a good spot to buy quality used drum gear? preferably someone with a web presence, rather than "my local pawn shop, dood".

specifically, i'm in the market for a set of 13in Mastersound hihats, a 20in K Custom Dark ride and an omar hakim snare.....if any of y'all know where i can find said pieces at a reasonable price or have any of them for sale. ;-)

cheers,
wade

You got some good taste

I got a 20" K custom drark ride. I got it over at ebay. I saw a nice drumset w/ a killer cymbal set-up and email the guy if he didnt sell if he would sell the cyms. I got a goood deal. Maybe try asking people to split up the cyms if they dont sell. Just another idea.

It's possible to find things on ebay. I have in the past, but it is difficult to get good deals. Ebay has ruined the second hand trade. I see things go on ebay for more than the same item would cost new. Bidding frenzy and then the added shipping, the waiting and the possible deadbeat sellers. Cymbals especially. Even if they are inexpensive, why would you buy a cymbal you haven't heard?
Try scratch and dent at GC.
Try the used equip at your local music store.
Where I live, LI, NY, we have LI Drum Center and they handle a lot of used equipment and I've gotten great deals on things that I had the opportunity to try.
Try your local Buy Lines, Newspaper Classifieds, estate sales, thrift shops, etc.

musiciansfriend.com or any other online retailer - only after you've heard it first. They do have downloadable clips, but I'd prefer to hear it first. Go to your local GC or SamAsh, or something and play it. If you like it and MF has it cheaper, then order it from them.

The best place to buy cymbals is in person simply because no 2 cymbals ever sound the same!

MF usually charges more, I've noticed anyway.

Just look around in classifieds like everyone said, or just go ebay.

eBay was a great place before everyone found out about it. There were enough sellers and enough buyers - not too many of the latter it seemed. The deals were amazing...not to mention you could buy drugs, firearms, fireworks, and everything else under the sun. Then it filed its paperwork, IPO'ed, the press went nuts about it, everyone found out, and now too many stupid people are there driving up the prices via bidding, or trying to get ridiculous amounts for their junk. As a result, it is quite hard to find a deal on any popular good. As mentioned - nearly impossible with cymbals and the like...so to answer your question - as mentioned - classifieds, pawn shops, music stores...as far as the internet...I cant tell...
