Software Drum Machine Advice?

Hey, I'm currently using a shareware package
called Leaf Drums to produce my drum loops in
my PC based recordings. You can import .wav samples of drums and incorporate them into your loops. I guess I was just wondering if there were any people out there who used different programs that might be better? I would prefer it to be freeware or shareware
that can actually export the loops to a medium that I could use in my recordings so I could test it out in a realistic application before paying for it.

I would recommend you look into the "PC Drummer" available as a free demo download at www.pcdrummer.com

There is a standard version available for $30 or a Pro version for $55. The pro version will allow much customization.

New software drum machine out, from Acoustica. It's called beatcraft. Best drum machine i've ever heard, software or hardware!

the Beatcraft does look like a decent tool. If you're using Sonar though, you may want to check out the Session Drummer tool - not only can you get a large quantity of MIDI patterns for it (a bunch are already included), but it's relatively easy to make your own patterns for it.

Anyone have any suggestions for good samples, specifically for heavy metal drums?

All these programs are basically interchangable, it doesn't matter what you want to use to map out the beats, getting a set of samples that I like has been that hard part for me. I need good cymbals and crashes and all that, obviously the bass and snare has to sound good...so I need help with that. I'll stick with LeafDrums, I just need better samples.
