Tascam DA-30 MKii NEED HELP!!

Hi, For some reason, I can't get my unit to go into record mode. The DAT is not write-protected, I can get an input signal, but it just won't record. Every time I push the record button I get A-D-A on the screen. I push record with pause, and nothing. I push record with play, nothing again. Any help would be appreciated. Is the machine just not working, or am I doing something wrong, or is there something I have to reset. Thanks!!
