I'm looking for a large collection of REAL drum samples. Nothing modified or tweeked or anything.... e.g. no techo or hip hop.

The BEST would be several samples of the same drum being hit. One of the problems with using sampled drums is that they sound robotic. I think that a more realistic sound could be achieved if I was to use maybe 10 samples per drum in a somewhat random fashion.

I'm looking for everything from snares to toms to cymbals to clicks...everything.

Any good sites? Anyone with a nice setup who would like to create a whole boatload of samples?

Thanks,

Slackmaster 2000

Yo'll - my Alesis D4 does just that. It has many different samples per drum so that when you hit it harder not only does it get louder but the tone changes as it should. If you do a light roll on the snare you get the fuzzy-roll sound if you strike it hard you get the bang. check my site http://homepages.go.com/~drumcage

I've been looking around from samples as well and have found http://www.2dcd.com/ which is the home page of "two dudes" drum samples. This seems to be the truest sounding drum samples I've ever heard.

Jared:

Thankyou for the link. Man those are some great samples but for $100!!!! Yikes. There must be ONE guy out there with a lot of time on his hands who has a good collection of free acoustic drum samples. All I can find is hip-hop techno type crap.

S2K:

You may have already seen this site as it is one of the first ones to come up in a yahoo search for drum samples, but I have been pretty satisfied with using their samples in Fruity Loops. Especially for the price.....free.

i know this might sound really dum... and i know nothing about drums.. but.. do you think micing a decent speaker system would make the drums sound more real ? i.e. micing my home stereo system and playing my keyboard drum kits ad decent volumes.. my home system had pretty good low end response..and highs..

I've actually read that some people use this technique...especially to give some air to sampled cymbals. I'd try it but I have no stereo. I suppose I could use my guitar amp...

Thumbs up

Yo Slack, I've got a decent collection of samps but most of them are the Techno/Dance stuff. I do, however, have a sampled acoustic kit with 4 kicks, 5 snares, a few toms, and the odd cymbal. E-mail me if you want it. The problem is I'm pretty sure they have reverb applied already and they aren't the best sounds in the world but you can always check 'em out. I haven't used them for anything.
I could put them into a big ass zip file or I could combine them into a single wav file and encode it to mp3 if you didn't mind breaking them down on your end. later
