Opinions Needed

Right now I'm using Logic for my recordings, it's all I've ever used, but Emagic no longer supports my product because I'm on PC. I was thinking of switching to Sonar 3 Studio.

I record almost exclusively audio but plan on using some midi in the near future. I've gone to the site and see it supports Direct x, VST effect plugins and VSTi. And I've been told that the mixer seems alot nicer than the older version.

I'm on a Dell computer, using a Delta 66 Omni interface. I'd like to know if the program is stable and if it has a steep learning curve. I guess I'm just looking for opinions from knowledgable people on Sonar.

Compared to Logic, any other DAW program is a piece of cake to learn!

From what other people say here, it seems Sonar 3 is much more stable and bug free when compared to Cubase SX 2.0.

having used cubendo and sonar 2.2, I would recommend sonar...

and there will be no problem incorporating your omni studio w/ sonar.

I got my feet wet with MOTU Digital Performer 3 at school on a Mac, and I like that program a lot (especially for MIDI work), but the more I work with and learn about Sonar 3 Studio on my PC at home, the more I love it. It's a breeze to learn the basics using the included tutorials, and the more 'advanced' features (Groove Clips are sweet) are a snap to set up and implement. The interface can be a little daunting at first (there are a lot more controls visible by default than in DP3), but once you learn what and where everything is, it's nice to have most everything you need available from the main project window. I've had no stability problems so far (aside from a little audio snafu here and there easily fixed by simply rewinding or resetting the audio engine), though I haven't recorded 200-minute jams like some of the people here. I think you'd be perfectly happy with the switch.

Exceptionally well, in my experience - (CWPA9 -> Sonar 3PE)

Updates and access to support are controlled through serial number and the response is normally within 24hours on weekdays via email. Living in Australia I have only had cause to call their customer service once for a lost serial number - I got through and they called me back with the information. That impressed me.

Their online forum is OK - but a bit of a rabble compared to the fine folk festering in this fair forum!

Most of these DAW proggies have demo's - grab 'em and see which one you like the best!
