Roland MC-500 MKII

A buddy of mine just tossed me a Roland MC-500 MKII micro composer. Says it works like a champ, but he has no manual and no time to go over it with me. Seems pretty basic, and all I want to do is record midi files from my V-sessions and Keys. Figure it might be good for some live stuff, can't really think of too much use for it in the home recording area. Anyway, anyone know this dinosour?? Is it worth taking the time to figure it out, or is it an out of date useless rock?
