Triton Extreme "WTF?"

Just got my new Musicians (girl)Freind catalog and they are selling a Triton Extreme, which aparently has a tube in it. Whats up with this? Has the BS "tewb" craze gone so far that now keyboard players want em in their rigs?

Not sure about you, but I dont think having a hot assed tube under the hood is an asset, It would make me nervous, as my workstation is turned on about 4-10 hours a day.

Anyone know anythin bout this? Oppinions?

I wasnt bagging on the Triton series. I think they are great machines, I was just commenting on the stupid marketing that these companies are resorting to.

Dont ya think that if you have a $2000 workstation, that you could afford a decent tube pre?

Flamin', yeah the Tritons are good, but I'm just generally sick of them (give me a few months away and I'll be fine).

I think the major asset of the Extreme is that it has all the expansion boards, and the sound design team was able to create new sounds using all the sampling data within the expansion boards.

I know these machines are designed to be able to be left on for long periods of time...so I don't know about the tube...

i have an original triton and it still inspires me even after year of use. The tube may sound like a BS marketing ploy, but in reality it is extremely useful because u can chain an internal sound thru various insert efx and then route it to the tube and then out thru an individual out or patch it back in again.

u could also use it as an Insert FX and then route the output to the internal efx of the triton and then out thru any of the stereo/individual outputs.

It sounds different and those people looking for a keyboard that sounds good, has tons of user editable programs and has full sysex implementation within the sequencer, the Triton Extreme is worth a serious look.

Did i mention that it sounds good.

Think of the fun you'll have making an acoustic bass sound, or making a synth sound scream with fat low end that can rattle the rafters or getting the sound of an actual tube distorted B3 organ - it makes some sense since Korg was an organ company 1st and a synth one later. Just go listen and then judge. If you're just venting because u don't like Korg as a company then you're already biased.

I have to admit that tube does have a fat sound!
I was gonna get a Karma to sit above my Triton Pro,
maybe I'll get the Extreme instead!

Yeah, I heard about this thing thru a Korg rep.............
I skoffed at it to his face and he kinda gigled as well......
The triton studio was the furthest it should have been.
When I worked for mars music they gave us a day of one on one studio training.
That thing has enugh on it to blow the roof off any house.
I dont realy have a use for a CD burner on a keyboard though.
May others do.
