Why doesn't akai and yamaha get there own forum? anyways which is better.

I know this forum is not for akai or yamaha stuff but perhaps you can tell me what makes the roland units better than the Akai DPS24 and Yamaha AW4416. I'm not biosed. I'm just trying to figure out what I should buy. If you believe a roland unit is better now would be a good time to explain why. I was looking into the Roland VS2400CD as an alternative but It seemed the weaker of the three.

Whats your take on the DPS24 vs. the AW4416? Which is better in your opinion? Why?

Thank you for the information.

I had the same delimma as you and after many questions I decided on and bought the 4416 only 2 weeks ago.
From what I hear, the AW4416 has superior sonic quality, while the VS series leads in VGA based editing and customer support.

Here is a forum for 4416: http://www.socialentropy.com/aw4416/index.htm

Here is the forum for VSeries: www.vsplanet.com

Akai DPS24 is best

Hi Mongoo,
I have the DPS24 and it is by far better than the Yamaha.
Easier to use, better quality sound - superior pre amps, much better customer support, bigger LCD ( or you can use your PC monitor ), just all around more features.
Don't take my word for it, visit the Akai forum here:

http://pub52.ezboard.com/fdpsworldfrm3

I have friends that own the Yamaha 4416, the AW16, the Fostex VF160, the Roland and Zoom machines, and they all say:

1. the Akai sounds better
2. easier to use - those other owners manuals are awful.
3. more features ( vocal pitch correction in real time,
awesome mastering algrhythms, motorized faders, and more )
4. better customer support - Akai techs on the forum above
5. they are all saving thier money to get the Akai DPS24

Sure, it costs a little more, but you'll never be wishing you hadn't bought it, or looking for a upgrade. Just get one and start making some great sounding tracks.
