Question please help my td-6 has gone bananas. midi out will not stop.

i have a roland td-6 that i'm using right now as a "drum module". it's not currently connected to the drum pads but to midi cables to my computer running sonar.

so the midi out will not stop sending a signal. is this normal??? this is a very fast signal that keeps the midi in of my midisport 2x2 constantly lit.

i have pressed the stop button. no audio is coming out.

i can get the midi out to slow down only by changing the "sync mode" (under setup -> midicommon) to "ext" then the midi out will blink like 3/second.

i THINK everything is working ok now, but is it normal for the midi out to always be sending a signal?
