What's the difference, and what does that mean to me? Anyone know what the yamaha mg10/2 has?

For the typical home recordist, the difference between balanced and unbalanced connections is negligible, except that balanced connections tend to be more expensive, since you need two-conductor cable for balanced vs. single-conductor for unbalanced. Balanced connections are needed where lines are long, or where the environment is particularly hostile to low-level electronic signals (such as in or near a radio transmitter facility).
