pro tools and effects

does pro tools come with real time effects like compressor, reverbs, Eq, etc? ( like cool edit) or do you have to get ripped off twice and buy expensive plug ins?

PT comes with some very good plug ins, reverbs, compressors, EQ's etc... I'd recommend dropping a couple hundred though for Waves Gold... definately worth it as the quality of those plug ins are better than the prebundled ones.

Most programs, including Pro Tools LE, come with useable effects. If you want something really stellar, though, you'll have to buy it extra.

Sometimes Digi has bundles that come iwth the mbox or 002. When I got my 002 some really nice waves plugs were included. Doesn't hurt to keep your eye out for such things.

Take care,
chris

There are also a LOT of decent freeware and really cheap shareware VST plugins out there. Look at www.kvr-vst.com ... some free or really cheap plugins suck for sure, but some of them are usable, and you can't beat the price.

Wait, but Pro Tools doesn't run VST plugins, you say!

Ahh, but with the fxpansion VST-RTAS adapter it does, I say! ( www.fxpansion.com )
