Please advise me on these monitors
well here's the deal
I got a pair of NS-10M (not studio) for about 100$ in perfect shape, and I liked what I was hearing I was happy for this deal as I wanted to replace my M-Audio SP-5B for a long time and I bought the alesis ar150 for it But ... as I realized that I need the more powerful ar300 amp this adventure is becoming a bit expensive so, as I see it I have only two options 1. buy the ar300 amp and stay with the ns10 2. buy the Alesis Active MkII monitors new (thats what they have in that store) my fear is that the ns10 will blow or something and I will have hard time to fix it thanx |

you may have some wires crossed or something....that amp should power those monitors easily.......
i had that "clip light" thing happen to me with a speaker wire i made......i suck at soldering ![]() |

The more I think about it, I'd almost be afraid to put THAT much power into NS-10's...
I stopped using them after my 5th or 6th set of tweeters... John |

the ra150 has volume control so you dont have to use it at full power.......

I know, it's just that those tweeters are notoriously easily blown.
Auralex has a wonderful "circuit breaker" for them for all you NS10 fans... JS |

I assumed by the model number that it would hit 75/75...
So much for model numbers... JS |

I don't even remember the impedance on the NS-10's...
All I remember is those... damn... tweeters... sailing across the room... But, I always kept a few extras in stock. JS |

Probably a Hafler TransNova 3000 (or higher)... Been a while...
No fuse across the tweeter - they didn't have the Yamaha NS10 Protection Circuit at that time... It was pretty normal at a lot of studios... We all kept several spares in a cabinet somewhere... It only took one good transient to send them to the can. JS |
