i have samson mdr6 mixer

yes i know not the best choice but i would like to have a decent pre the internal ones suck.

Try the FMR Audio RNP at $500.... maybe the Studio Projects VTB-1 at around $300.......

I really don't know that there are any mic pres that will "add presence," particularly at the $200 mark.

I know a few parametric EQ's that will, though. You might want to get on ebay and try and score a used dbx 242. Those can usually be had for less than a couple hundredge.

Yeah, what do you exactly mean by "presence"? Chessrock's suggestion of an eq is a possibility.

But if you mean presence like a preamp sound where it is really big and fat and right in your face, then you've got to spend a lot more than $200. At least I think you do, maybe someone with some experience will have a sleeper pre to recommend.
