Pc to MR8 problems HELP QUICK

ok i recorded this band. basically they have 3 songs, i have a 256 mb CF so its not the 128, anyways, i still needed to free up space for vocals. so i put some tracks to the computer to get extra time. This being my first time, for one song, i transfered the 1-6 tracks to the pc, then deleted it from the mr8. And it has it all there correct, on my desktop. THEN i tried to put it back on there so i could see if would work like its supposed to, you know just testing waters... ... as far as im concerned the tracks are labeled correct (i.e. tr01.wav) BUT when i click the "pc to mr8" tab, it recognizes the tracks and what bloody not, but when i click export it says "????????38" and it has that loading box, except its not loading, it just says text. i dont know, i just need to retrieve this stuff I CANT have it lost. thanks, hopefully i can clear this up. i cant get further then what i've said, help me... =/

can you transfer one at a time? Maybe try to reset the MR-8, sometimes on mine it doesn't delete everything even though it says it has.

no

no it doesnt let me do one at a time. I DO know that, if there is not enough room it will tell me the amount i am trying to put in, and the amount that can fit. so in all actuallity it seems that it reads fine, but i guess when i try to put the music back in the mr8 from the computer all i keep getting is the "????????(38)" i have windows xp? could it be that? should i try a different computer? has this happened to anyone?

oh ya, sorry forgot to say, and no, it says i have the space back on the card because when i press the record button as if i was going to record, all the time is back i can use it..so i think the mr8 knows its gone.

what version of MR-8 are you using? Have you dowlowded version 1.03 (or is it 1.04 now) I hear that it lears up a lot of those little bugs and error messages that you get. (Although I don;t recall seeing that one before)

Have you been able to successfully do this before?

The only thing I can think to do is to erase and reinstall the wave manager.

I lot of guys here use N-track (run a search on this forum and you can get the web address to download a free trial version).

I use Db power amp to convert my fineshed wavefiles to mp3's.

cheers

you know another work around might be to get a USB CF card reader (pretty cheap) and just pop out the MR-8 card and move the tracks back on to the MR-8 that way.

I have had this same problem. Since I now do everything on the pc after transferring from the MR-8 I can't remember how I remedied the problem. I think one thing is to mess with the song file thing. Try making a new song file on the MR-8 and then transferring to it. The n-track website is www.fasoft.com

Like me, once you start using n-track you will not be worried about transferring tracks back to the MR-8 because you have so much more control over your mixing on the pc.

maybe?

get n track open the song on your computer in ntrack and save it, then mix down to a new wav. file, then take the NEW file from n track and put that in wave manager to transport to your cf card
i do this to have a base trac to add more to on the mr 8, then back to pc

Version 1.10 now!!!! Last time I upgraded it was still 1.05 i think.

I don't even remember how to get the MR8 into the mode to read the upgrade...?!?

Not that it matters as my computer is still drying out from the deluge, erring on the side of precaution since my friend hasn't come by to help me clean the damned thing yet...

I never have had any luck trying to transfer back to the MR8 from PC. I gave up and bought the CF card reader, and I also us N-track, or at least I used to.

I've noticed it seems sometimes the tracks "get" renamed somehow??? Maybe it's only after I open them with Ntrack that this happens, but I don't know why/how that would change the files name???

So what is the default naming pattern for the MR8? Is it "tr01, or tr0001"? I believe there are 3 zeroes preceeding on some of my .wav files.... could be four....
