how to connect an old Mixer to Computer Soundcard..

anyone know how to hook a Peavy MARK 2 series 16 channel mixer to your sound card..i got it to record but none of the faders,hi,lows,and mid buttons affect the sound of my guitar im recording.. would i run my mic to the channel 1 mic input and somehow run something from the inputs Send and Return? theres also a line in unbalanced on the back of all 16 preamps how would i go about connecting it and making it work with my sound card...its a relaly old mixer....or at least it looks like it..any help will be appreciated! thanks in advance! - Kyle
