Amp Mic Mount?

I've seen in numerous live videos, and in person at live shows, thay have microphone stands that attatch directly to the amp body. where can I get these?

I know what your talking about but have never seen them for sale anywhere I had always just assumed they were "home made"

No clue where to find them but someone has to be making them. You might could use a drum mic clip to get the thread for the boom arm on the cab but I have no clue what type of boom arm you could find that would be small enough and out of the way for it to work.
Maybe something like "the claw" by Latin percussion but positioning might be a nightmare. Never tried it

You must be referring to the Z-BAR. If so, they rule...I've been using them for years in live situations. Never have to deal with the old "hang the 57 over the amp" sound guys again!

would that be good for recording situations?

and does that have to attatch to the actual amp? because it looks like you need a stack so it stays in place.

I haven't used it in recording.....I suppose it would work though. You would have to listen for transmissions through the bar to the mic but I doubt you'd have a problem.

As far as mounting....a lot of guys just put the long bit under the handle of the cabinet and that seems to hold it there just fine. I've seen touring guys use them with velcro on the tops of the cabs. I tend to literally put my 2x10 cabinet right on top of it, so the bar is coming from UNDER the amp....no reason other than I think it looks cleaner.

So, no, you don't have to use a stack....any amp'll do. I've even used it on an old tiny 7watt Kalamazoo amp.

They are good to have. Beware of people ALWAYS trying to borrow it though....
