Lightbulb just a question?

Hey!! jsu about to purchase the fostex vf-160 with burner and Iwas wondering if you guys could let me know some stuff about it good?bad?ugly? and I'm buying the bundle from musicians friend, so please check it out and let me know if it's alright, ohhh and I'm getting the E-MU px7 same as the mp-7 but with a diff soundset and $200.00 cheaper, comments?

the vf160 is an excellent machine. i can't speak about the package.

I hoped so but what about the px-7? Anyone? The bundle has the mxl 990 condenser mic and the nady d9000 dynamic,100 free blank cd's two powered moniters by Edirol , mic stand w/boom,two mic chords,two instrument chords, I think that's it.Well?

Not to criticise the gear you mentioned, because I imagine you can make some nice recordings with it, but if it were me, I'd put together a different package based around the VF160.

Figure the VF160 can be had alone for $850 (with a FOSTEX case).
The MXL V67G is $100, with a shock mount and lots of people think this is a phenomenal vocal mic. Good quality boom stands can be had for $25ea. from Sam Ash. Nice 25' quad cable can be had for 25-30 bucks.

If you order from 8th street music you can get the Studio Projects B1 mics (excellent all-round mic, nice on voice, great on acoustic, great as overheads, for $99. with a shock mount). I don't know about the Edirol monitors or the PX7...

You don't say what type of music you'll be hoping to record. I'm just a believer in making up my own package deals.
