A/C bid

Here's my bid and proposal for the HVAC for the studio:

1.) Prodive and install 4 ton, 13+ SEER and vairible speed heat pump system, to include Aprilaire High Efficiency Air Cleaner, Model 700 Automatic Humidifier, Energy Recovery Ventilator, 2 Automatic Zone Control Dampers.

2.) Install 2 thermostats and 1 Humidistat.

3.) Install 9 supply, and 4 return air outlets. CR outlets and returns shall be 10"x18" rigid fiberglass ducting, all other ducting shall be either 10" or 12" R6 Flex ducting. Duct system was designed for minimal air velocity and noise criteria for recording.

4.) Install Waste Heat Recovery Unit to owner supplied water heater.

5.) Install "Whisper Quiet" bath exhaust fan and vent through roof.

6.)Install Freon lines to system and waste heat recovery unit; install drain lines.

7.) Provide 24"x24" sealed access door in bathroom ceiling for damper access.

8.) All labor and materials for system completion.

Exclusions:
1.) Cost of permit. ($55)
2.) Framing required for access door.
3.) 3/4" plywood platform for damper area.

Cost: $7830.

That's verbatim from his bid.
Here's the Frigidaire system:

Yes - that's the type of system I was referring to.

Some thoughts.

1) I feel that by using one big (13) unit to do it all would be asking a bit much when you could use 2 x 10 units. One for control room, one for studios. ask for a price comparison.

2) placing the blower unit above the bathroom would require long duct runs than if you put the blower unit(s) above the control room with access to them through the ceiling in the space between your sliding doors to the verandah.

3) having the blower units above the control room would allow for shorter (cheaper) ducts directly to the the booths, studio and control room.

4) the compressor units could then be placed outside the rear wall of the control room with short pipes up to the ceiling of the control room for the blower units.

cheers
John

Great!
Thanks for the insight, John.
I'll look into the double system, but I have a feeling it'll be cost prohibitive.

by comparison the 3 similar units at left bank cost around AUD$12,000 or US$8,000

cheers
