I have a technique for recording acoustic guitar I'd like to share, and wonder if any of you guys have ever tried it. I use a Dean Markley acoustic guitar pickup and line into one channel (direct), and then mic it with a dynamic mic and line into another channel. The results are amazing! The tonality has such a wide range, especially on the low end. I'm even thinking of using two different mics (dynamic and condenser) for recording vocals. Has anybody else tried these methods?

I use this same technique but with an ovation acoustic/electric. Have you tried panning one channel hard left and the other hard right? This really creates a full sound. Especially if you had a slight delay to one channel.

I knew I forgot to mention something... (duh!) Yeah, that's the way to do it (pan L/R each channel), it sounds great. Today I used the two seperate mics for vocals, with some mild effect on the dynamic mic. I then put the condenser mic (clean) about 15 inches behind and slightly to the side in a seperate channel. The results were also quite excellent. You just have to make sure you don't back off on the dynamic mic or the level will vary too much from the condensers' level.
