swapping drums from Ch10 to Ch16

I'm trying to play my Creative Vibra 128 internal synth from my old Yamaha PSS 780, which puts the drums out on Channel 16. I've got Windows 95 running on the PC. I thought I had it figured when I changed the device from GM to percussion on channel 16. However now I get no sound from the drum track, whereas before it was playing as a melody instrument.
