TEAC 80-8 audio tape
I'm new here and need some help. I have a TEAC (TASCAM) 80-8 eight track recorder and I need new tape. I've been using Ampex 767 but don't seem to be able to find any on the net. Can anyone suggest another tape which I can use ont this machine without having to have the machine's electronics readjusted in any way?

Studio Spares has lots of tape. Though I don't believe they have that particular brand.
Quantegy 456 would probably be your best bet.

Ampex 767 is low-speed intrumentation/logging tape and is not intended for audio mastering.
Quantegy/Ampex 456 is the right tape for the 80-8. Here are some links. http://www.arcal.com/456grandmaster.html http://www.cmedias.com/audio_Folder/q_Folder/456.htm http://www.neemannmedia.com/reels.htm#456 ![]() |
