are midi drum worth a crap? if so, what is some good brands?

They can be. You'll need a synth with tasty drum sounds or it'll sound like crap.
The real fun is in writing your own licks.

i am sure that it is fun creating your own, but i am a guitarist, i cant make the drum sounds in my alesis qs6 keboard sound realistic at all!!!! my drum parts have about as much feeling as the back street boys!!
