ok heres a dumb question if i download effects what kind will work and where do i put them(install) ive got some ive downloaded but cant seem to get them to work thanx

Try this: in Cool Edit, click on Effects>Refresh Effects List.

Cool Edit finds usable plugins that way.

BTW, the effects you downloaded are Direct X, right? It gets slightly more complicated if your plugins are VST.

Adobe Audition only works with direct X plugins. VST plugins aren't compatible.

Rumor has it that it's easy enough to find a usable wrapper that'll let you use VST plugins with Cool Edit.

Try this in Google: directx + vst + wrapper
