On the left hand side of the arrange window, above where you can select sounds etc, there should be a box showing where the output is going to-- in my case, I have the keyboard connected to the printer port...check to see if you are getting the MIDI signal transmitted from the right port. This is for Cubase VST (and a Mac), but I'm assuming that they are similar in setup. Either way, just make sure that you have the right output selected-- that could be your problem.

irecently attempted to enter the world of midi...i got a sequencer, a computer, a drum machine, blah blah. any way, I am getting levels on cubasis when I play my keyboard, but I can't hear anything, even when I play it back. something definately recorded, I just can't hear it. aaaaaaa!
