Maker of Radio Shack Supertape?

Does anyone know who made the 7" reel-to-reel "Supertape" for Radio Shack? I've heard good things about its performance and am curious as to what is really in the box. This is not the lower quality "Concertape" that am curious about, but specifically the Supertape.

I've never used their R2R stuff, but the cassette Supertape formulations were godawful crap!

I had heard rumors and stories that their Super-Tape, open reel product was basically Ampex "B" grade tape that didn't make it through quality control and be of good enough coating consistency, (too many drop outs) to be used with the Ampex name on it.

When open reel tape is manufactured, it is made on very large rolls that are slit to width. Much of the outside of the rolls were more susceptible to damage and inconsistent coating and thus the different quality grades.
