Cool

hey folks,

ok, i admit it, i'm a midi idiot. i have the rough idea that it can be used to synch a myriad of devices but that's where the knowledge stops. here's what i want to do. i want to synch up my digi 001 system to a boss drum machine, a boss dr sample, and an oberheim echoplex digital pro (a looper) so that everything will be in time with one another and i can add other loops/samples also in time later. everything has midi plugs, so am i being extremely naive by thinking this can be done? where do i begin? any reference books out there? any advice at all would be great. thanks!

tony

okay, your digi 001 system should (I think) be able to put out midi clock (sync) and system messages (play, stop, etc.). Take one midi cable, and run it from the digi's midi out to the first box (the drum machine or the sampler or whatever, so long as it has a midi thru). Now, take a second midi cable, run it from the midi thru on the first box to the midi input on the second box. Do the same from the 2nd to the 3rd, and everything should play in sync, although you'll probably have to set each machine to slave mode, except the digi, which you'll probably have to set to send the midi clock (maybe).

Hope this is useful : )
