compressor
first let me start with explaining my setup.
i have the fallowing: AKG D112 bass drum mic Cooledit Mackie 1642-VLZ PRO mixer i directly plug the mixing board into my computer i have been looking at compressors for bass drum and i wasnt sure what to get. ive been told <b>MDX2600 Composer Pro-XL Compressor</b> is good but i was wondering about some other peoples inputs.. |

You didn't mention what soundcard you are using, If you are using soundblaster cards, do an upgrade on that rather than buying a compressor, you could use cool edit's software compressor instead. They sound better than behringer stuff.
If you have a good soundcard, you could try an Alesis or DBX compressor, they sound pretty good in their price range. Have fun!

i agree with the RNC compressor. good price, good quality, good to learn from.

The DBX-166xl includes a gate as well as a peak limiter, the RNC is just a compressor. Nonetheless, both are low-end compressors that will do a decent job.

aw man, i was just about to order that one i posted too. i heard that its good for recording bass drum which is mainly all ill use it for... you are sure its a bad idea to get it?

I have the DBX model mentioned above. I'd recommend it to anyone who doesnt want to spend too much. I'd definitely recommend it over the Composer pro.
