HogansHiro will become famous soon enough
Go do something else or work on something else... you can't force it or it will be obvious. One of my best tunes took 13 years to write....now thats writers block.

Maybe this will help. I wrote it trying to break a block with writing down random thoughts...

I sit and stare into the air.
I know there are words out there, in the air.
I see them swirling about my periphery.
So I reach out to them but they disappear.
And I’m left with just an echo of the words I hear.
Steadily fading and not at all clear.
I try to grasp the task of writing down random thoughts
But I’m too busy organizing them.
By size and color and personal costs.
To assure myself they won’t get lost.
The ones that come taste bitter and stale.
They leave me short, that feeling I’ve failed.
Even this, my angry reprise is lacking a feel.
“Give me honesty!” it patiently cries.
“There is none.” I say.

Good Luck!

do something out of the ordinary. jump around outside on a pogo stick. Give yourself a facial. Order Indian food. Watch a Scandanavian musical porno. Anything to break out of the familiar cycle.

Wnen I get stuck or hung up i drag out the oldies and just listen for a while. I know you are wondering why but the little catchy phrases and the play on words things on a lot of oldies were pretty clever and often inspire me to rephrase a line or even prompt a new idea. Even some of the really corney lines used in some old country songs can inspire me to come up with a catchy line that sometimes opens a whole new avenue in the middle of an idea for a song. I guess I"m trying to say, find something that gets you to think about other possibilities and variations in how you can put a song together, and don't be shy about "borrowing" ideas from other writers. Even the country music legend, Waylon Jennings wrote a song about,"We've all been making a living, stealing each other's songs."

First off, stop thinking about having or getting writer's block. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy. The more you think about it the more up-tight you get, etc etc etc...

If you're having trouble with something in particular, put it aside. There's no rule that says you have to finish a song just becuase you started it. Have the self-confidence to say "I will come up w/ another good idea", and put this one aside. Maybe some day you'll pick it up again, maybe you won't. Maybe some day you'll steal just one line from it to complete some other song. It's all good.

If you're having trouble coming up w/ anything at all then you need to kick the "editor" in you out of the room and let the "writer" do his job. Stop telling yourself every idea is dumb and instead just have ideas. Do some free-association writing as Fat_Satchel suggested, or write a story instead. Then strip it down to its basic elements and make it rhyme and ta-da: you have a song.

Literally every single thing around you is fair game for a song: the window sill, the door, the carpet, your pen, a smell. Pick something and muse on it.

And for cryin' out loud! Stop whining about writer's block!!!

(It'll just make it worse. )
