I can't find any rubber cleaning fluid. I live in Australia and want to clean my pinch roller in my tascam 488. In australia, the tascam cleaning kit is not allowed as it is treated as a volite chemical. Can anybody help? I can get head cleaning fluid but not rubber cleaning fluid. Thanks.

Have you tried e-mailing your question to TASCAM?

The stuff to use is Rubber Renue (hey that's how they spell it). You'll want to keep it outside because it stinks but it cleans and revives the rubber components of your machine quite nicely. Have lots of Q-Tips handy because a lot of crud comes off the rubber as you're cleaning it. As I'm sure you know, do not use alchol as that will destroy the rubber.

You can get this stuff at most VCR repair shops--it's around 8-9 bucks a bottle.

Here's the manufacturer--I'm sure you could contact them for more information. I'd think you should be able to get it even though I hear that south of the equator all electrical motors run counterclockwise...;> )http://www.web-tronics.com/webtronics/408a-250ml.html
