WWJD?

No!

WWGMD?

Now that's a thinker. . .

Personally, I'm a gear snob. That microverb is crap compared to my Danelectro pedal!

I always keep it in perspective by remembering that,

First, it's the song.

Second, it's the performance.

Third, it's the production.

If #1 and #2 aren't there, it don't really matter how good #3 is.

And if #1 and #2 are good enough, it really don't matter too much how bad #3 is.

Fourth, its being at the right place at the right time.

If you're talking about now, he wouldn't.

If you're talking about 1972 (or something like that) and Mr. Martin is engineering the best Beatles album ever, "Abbey Road", he wouldn't probably flip about it...

Yes!

I'm sick of all the idiots who think SPLHCB or the White Album are the best. Abbey Road rules!

And...

Any producer worth his salt will use the best tool tool available to them for the job at hand. Often that equates to the state of the art tool, but sometimes a producer will opt for something cheap because the sound is right for the song, and sometime because that's all they have.

Personally, I think limitations often help to shape some of the best art. Limitations of time, money, or resources. Working around the problems of your medium and finding solutions with what you have at hand can squeeze some really creative stuff out of people.

got mojo?
