First Time Midi Music

Hi,

I'm really into orchestration, I have some samples of my originals production here using a sequencer and live keyboards. My question is if I MIDI this thru to my Cakewalk software will I be able seperate all the tracks for editing or am I just dreaming?

What I'm trying to say for example, I make a song or already have a song in my workstation. So if I were to use the midi connections into my computer and into my software Will I be able to separate all of my 16 tracks into the software where I would be able to edit or fix wrong notes, quantize or even add more tracks and instruments.

This will be the first time that I use PC for recording, but would like to see what my limitations would be.
I am not a Sonar user yet, on a tight budget. I have CakeWalk Music Creator Pro as my software.

Yes! Just hook your computer up to your keyboard (or whatever) and set up 16 MIDI tracks in Sonar (or whatever ) to record on the different 16 MIDI channels. Arm the tracks, press record and hit play on the keyboard.

Hi, Sorry about the double post. I'm using an old KORG X-3 keyboard/workstation for my sequencing and an ALESIS QS-6 keyboard for other sounds. I'm wanting to expand from the workstation to the puter to clean up or add other stuff to my music.

Anyway, Korg X3... I got Korg N364 which is extended version of X3. I think both have similiar procedure to operate You know, they are the best ones

yea, I think we can exchange .pcg though I wouldn't know how to go about it.

Well, I'm not at my keyboard right now, but I can give some info for you...

.pcg is Program Combination Global files. It stores your bank and patch's data. IOW, for example, you can change your user bank sound and load new ones by loading from the disk (whole or partialy). You can also save your existing program, Combination and Global setting into the disk. The menu can be accesed from Global menu.
