Buyer abandoned his deposit

And I'm stuck with this DAW.

2.6 gigahertz Intel P4 (800mhz FSB) with 1 gigabyte of RAM built into a Thermaltake case.

The Thermaltake case uses the Thermaltake 420 watt Silent Purepower power supply and features 4 fans controlled by a Thermaltake X-Blower fan control panel.

The motherboard is an ASUS P4P800 Deluxe which includes Firewire, and USB 2.0. The video is an ASUS 8X AGP with 128 megabyte DDR dedicated video RAM. The display is a 17" LCD by AOpen.

Storage is provided by two 80 gigabyte hard disk drives, each with 8 megabyte of dedicated cache running at 7,200 rpm, and a Lite-On CDRW/DVD (note, not a DVD-RW) drive. The keyboard/mouse are Microsoft Multimedia keyboard/Microsoft optical mouse.

The case, monitor, CDRW/DVD, and keyboard/mouse are all black.

A licensed copy of Windows XP Pro will be installed on payment, you must register the software within 30 days.

I am a registered Microsoft partner and professional system builder.

I am selling this system for $1,795 plus CA. tax (if applicable) and shipping.

Please direct any inquires to: wheelema@hotmail.com

I went right to it.

http://www.rockinghamsound.com/

I posted this because the person said that the security deposit had been abandoned.

The prices for what they are quoting seems a tad high then.

David,

I got to your site by going through Google and doing a search.

You are mistaken.

Rockingham sound does not include a 17" LCD display with their offering (a classic way to appear less expensive), adding one would kick up the cost of their system to over $2,100. If the buyer does not need a 17" LCD I will reduce the cost of this DAW by $400.

In my experience the rack mounted cases are noiser and much hotter. Though they are more expensive the Thermaltake case/powersupply features superb cooling and fan control that lets you damp down or ramp up the fans as you need to accomodate your recording requirements.

The SATA drives used by your site are not compatible with some of the major sound vendors (to the best of my recollection there was a thread on this bbs regarding problems with DigiDesign gear and SATA), the removable drive is kind of a neat marketing trick, but I've never had a customer want to spend the extra $40 it would cost to add the feature.

The reason that your link did not work the first time is that the URL ended in a period (.). Your second URL you supplied ended (correctly) in a slash (/).

And here's the reason that I'm posting to support David with his post:

Looking to buy or sell music or recording equipment? Private parties only, please (no dealers or SPAM), and by using this forum you acknowledge that all deals are being made solely between the parties involved.

Read the part about dealers and SPAM very carefully.

Sorry if you think you don't fall into that category. But you're charging tax, which means you're a business, and you're doing it for profit.

That's not what this forum is for.

Yes Rockingham Sound does not affer a monitor but at $1599.95 they give you a 3Ghz CPU not 2.6, Dual Head video not single, SATA hard drives not parallel, mobile audio disk which by the way is a must fro any professional application not a markeying trick, Pioneer dual format DVD-WRITER and CD-WRITER, softsonic hard disks, etc.

Yes, they are amuch better deal plus their systems are extremely silent. I own one!

I got a 17" Flat panel LCD monitor from them with the system for $285.00 not $400.00.

They have a 30 day money back warranty, 3 years parts and labor, no tax, and free shipping.

You can't build that computer with brand new parts and a $200.00 rack case for $1000.00 and I know why.

Now I would like you to explain how you can build it for $1000.00.

Before you start I would like to tell you that I work as a purchasing manager for the 2nd largest computer manufacturer in the world so no BS here.

Now go on my friend!

I built my rack case for $1100, when the XP2800 came out.

Its not a pentium. Forgot pentiums cost more.

But I have a

XP2800
MSI k7n2g 400 mhz FSB (i think)
1 gig of memory PC3200 2 512 sticks dual channel
60gig harddrive 7200rpm
80gig harddrive 7200rpm with 8meg cache
Radeon 9700 pro 128mbs
rack mount case
cd-rw 52x24x52
M-audio DIO (for reason)

of course its probably alot cheaper now then when i bought it back in may.

Pentiums are more expensive. But i searched for everything for 2-3 weeks finding the best deals.
