My gracious wife is letting me play with $3500, and I was looking for a few answers/opinions. Are ADAT's really worth it, or will good old Cakewalk do just fine. Should I buy FX before compressors, or studio monitors, and should I invest in a de-noiser? Should I also take this opportunity to get a decient condensor mic? Thanx

Ok... I'll be recording my band (and probably others in the area), we are a bit of a grunge and industrial mix, but I want flexability out of a system, not style. The reason why I ask about the ADAT is because I would like to be able to record in parts in my "studio" and record milti-track at gigs. That enough?
