Question

I've been using cool edit pro 2.0 mostly for splitting tracks up from mixes for cd's.

Today I tried to open a mix I downloaded (7 hours long), but when I opened it, it only read part of the mix (55 minutes of it).

I have opened up files in the past that are just as big.

Has anyone else had a problem with Cool Edit opening up an incomplete file?

Thanks in advance.

It is not the opening problem, it is the saving problem, if you accidentally hit the cancel button or (I think space bar/enter) whiel it is saving, it doesn't cancel the process, rather it just saves the part bounced so far. Try saving it again if you have the original mix.

Actually I haven't saved it in Cool Edit yet. I downloaded the mix to my computer. I then try to open the file so that I can edit the mix. When the open a wav form window comes up and you move the arrow over the file, it reads it correctly (in windows XP if you move the arrow over the file without clicking it, it gives you the file details), but when you click on the file, on the right side of the Open a wav form window, the file size is incorrect and the duration of the mix is incorrect.
Thanks for the input though.

figured it out. apparently cool edit won't let you open a music files that is over 7 hours long. I had to break that file in half with another program to get cool edit to finally open it. Thanks

What does the size of the hard drive matter?

It doesn't. The size of the drive has nothing to do with the music file smart guy.

Dude, a little defensive there? I just asked how big your hard drive was, smart guy.

If you're storing a seven hour wave on your hard drive, and you're telling me the size of the drive doesn't matter, then okay.

But at 32bit (24float), a stereo track takes up about 20MB per minute. By my math, that's about 8.4 GB for that one file. That would be approximately 1/3 of my drive, that's all I'm saying.

ciao',
the "Smart Guy?"

p.s., go fuck yourself you cocksocket.

Defensive? Not at all.

I think I interpreted your response as you meant it.

Seriously, when you replied, how could your response relate to my original question?

Look, the file is mp3 so it won't eat up my hard drive space.

To answer the question, 80 gig, 2 of them, in raid configuration.

Lack of vocabulary.

Nice way to express yourself.

I guess I'm not the one who's defensive huh?

Poor guy. It's just too easy to get under people's skin.

Hey, have yourself a great day. I hope your life improves.. Seriously, I'll pray for you.

Look man; I don't derive any pleasure out of yelling at people through a keyboard. Some people love it; I don't. From your initial sarcastic response to my question, I assume you're one of those pricks that gets his jollies from trying to make other people feel dumb. Well, I've got a wife for that. I can feel perfectly stupid without your help.

The point is, if you give a shit about contributing to this or any other BBS, it's probably not the best idea to saunter in with a whopping 5 posts under your belt and start lobbing insults around. Be civil or be quiet; I really don't care which you choose.

Now go mix an mp3, lol.

And God forbid this thread actually contain something useful, but since you obviously don't know this, it doesn't matter what format the original file is in; CEP can't edit it until it converts it into a wave file, so yes, your hard drive space is relevant...

...good thing you have a huge drive

...to compensate for your small brain, diminished social skills, and microscopic penis....

Okay, that last stuff was just rude, but you really kinda' pissed me off.
