Angry What about this?????

I guess I just took it for granted that the 01v96 would come with full automation capabilities being as it's $1,500.00 more expensive than the DDX3216. But I was informed today that the 01v96 only has scene recall and automation via MIDI controller. NOTHNIG ONBOARD!!!!! Man that ticks me off cause I was ready to buy one but, now I "have" to go with the DDX3216 inorder to automate mixdowns and what not.

I just can't believe that Yamaha put this mixer out there without full automation. Blows my mind!!

Sorry just venting. Any body got an 02r they'd sell cheap?

Chris

I think cheapie fader automation is overated. It's handy when you only have 8 faders and 24 tracks of audio but in that case I would rather just have a 24 ch board. If you want to do complex volume changes in a mixdown you can always just automate on a DAW or record you mixdown back to 2 tracks on the multitrack and punch in any big changes.

In the end it just costs more and it's something else to break.

DDX3216...Hmmmm

Sound on Sound did a comprehensive review of the 01V96 a few months ago and if there is any way you could deal with the issue you bring up I'd consider it cause it seems like it's probably a few step up from the Behringer. The SOS guys brought the automation thing up but in all other areas they rave about this board. They like the Pre's and I bet they are superior to the Behringer.

I've almost decided I'm going for a used 02R... Sound like I'm doing the right thing? I know the 02R's been retired, but they still make the parts if it breaks, right?

My good friend owns an 02R also and I can learn from him how to use it. What's a good price for the 02R? 2500.00 too much? Maybe a flat 2K if it doesn't have a meter bridge?

Enlighten me!! and Thanks a ton!!

DeadPoet is on a distinguished road
2nd hand o2r's go for about 2k -2k5, the latter mostly with 8 or 16 ch of lightpipe included. Most w/out meterbridge.

To add my 2 cents: I went for an analog board: no automation, but a sound I like much better than an o2r (worked on it) and most importantly: overview. I like to see everything.

No automation is a minus, but there's remedies for that: take pictures of your setup with a digital camera and put it on screen while recalling (the markup sheets for my Ghost suck)
