Home studio electrical

Can anyone point me to a source on the web or a good book on installing electrical/lighting in a home studio in order to minimize or eliminate interference with the amplifiers and recording equipment?

Run the Romex for lights and switches on a dedicated circuit straight from the breaker. Skip fluorescents cause they'll give you ballast hum, and adequately ground your breaker box to a metal rod below grade. Better yet, get an electrician to draw you up the best one-line diagram, and have him do the trickiest parts of the work for you.

I wonder if conduit would help for this stuff?

Well grounded conduit will act as shielding in environments where there is a lot of Electromagnetic or Radio frequency interference. It would be a good idea to use conduit if there were sources of this type of interference near by. In 'most' residential settings, it probably wouldn't be necessary.
